3 Ways to Boost the Health of Your Workforce

As a small business owner, you should be aware that your employees are your greatest asset. Everybody has an opinion about how business owners can boost the productivity of their workforce, but what must be undisputed is that your staff can only work to full capacity if they are well and healthy. So what can you do to boost the health of your employees, and boost your profits as a result?

Maintain a clean office space. You can only expect your workforce to be healthy if you provide a clean workspace for them. This means that you need to invest in a commercial cleaning service that cleans your offices from top to bottom outside so that when your team shows up, they have a clean working environment that is conducive to productivity.

Make sure that the cleaning service can deliver in every area such as window cleaning, deep cleaning for carpets, cleaning of toilets and bathrooms, and emptying the trash. You might also want to consider a commercial cleaning company that uses organic, natural products if you are concerned about allergies amongst your employees.

Encourage an active lifestyle. Sitting in an office chair all day is not exactly conducive to a healthy lifestyle. But there are some things that you can do to ensure that your employees are not sedentary all the time. If you manage to get your employees exercising, they will feel less fatigued and more able to focus on the work tasks at hand.

There are a number of ways that you can encourage this. You could start a cycle-to-work scheme, in which you loan the money for your employees to purchase new bikes. By the time they cycle to the office, they will be pumped and ready to work. You can also bring in yoga teachers for lunchtime sessions so that your employees can use their breaks in an active way.

Promote healthy eating. Many employees eat their meals, especially lunch, on-site. You can make a difference to their health by ensuring that you use the services of a caterer committed to health. While it might be tempting to chomp on a chocolate bar or munch on crisps, this isn't in the long-term interests of your employees.

Swap out unhealthy vending machines filled with sodas and chocolate for vending machines filled with fruit. You could even organise a fruit delivery service to your office so that your employees are encouraged to eat in a healthy way every day.
